Welcome to the “Antica Officina”
The B&B is located in the center of Mandello del Lario in a Lombard banister house of XVIII century. The structure consists of 2 housing units with a common large courtyard. We offer 3 comfortable rooms with private entrance and equipped with bathroom and apartments. The guests can use the courtyard with tables and the cellar, a typical local with vaulted ceiling and stones exposed walls, furnished with antique furniture.
Mandello del Lario lies on the waters of the eastern shore of Lake Como,
situated on a peninsula is dominated from behind walls and towers of Grigna. It 'a tourist place with very good climate, full of walks and climbs of all lengths and difficulty.
A local history corner.
At the ground floor of the house there is what remains of the workshop of the B&B owner’s granduncle, Giorgio Ripamonti called “Ferée” (Blacksmith in lombard dialect); the young Carlo Guzzi, passionate about mechanics and engines, often came in this workshop at the beginning of ‘900 and, after the 1st World War, in 1919, he designed a motorcycle prototype realising his dream with the help of granduncle Giorgio. Two years later, in March 1921, with his friend and partner Giorgio Parodi, Carlo Guzzi founded the Limited Company Moto Guzzi.
A plaque commemorating this story has been placed by the Association “Municipal Archive for Local Memory”. It has been so decided to keep and restructure this semi-detached workshop realizing a small museum.
